Assignment 1: Due Friday, March 14
We will keep track of your results so you can see your progress.

In this assignment you are going to use the workbook you created in Assignment 1, YourName_Excel_assignment1. To begin, you are going to format the spreadsheet so it is visually appealing.

  1. Open the file you created in Assignment 1.
  2. Center the title, My Checkbook, and make it bold.
  3. Create a cell range that includes cells A1, B1, C1, D1, E1, F1, and G1.
  4. Merge and Center this cell range.
  5. Change the Font to Arial size 16.
  6. Create a cell range that includes cells B3, C3, D3, E3, F3, and G3.
  7. Apply Bold formatting to this cell range.
  8. Apply a Bottom Border to this cell range.
  9. Apply a yellow background color for all cells included in the cell range.
  10. Apply a Center Alignment to column C.
  11. Format columns E, F, and G so the dollar amounts contain 2 decimal places.

Now its time to input your February checks. We are going to write six checks: Telephone, Electric, Gas, Cable, Insurance and Rent. Make sure you type the correct information in the proper column and row.

  1. Open worksheet one and change the name of that sheet to January.
  2. Open worksheet two and change its name to February.
  3. Copy the column labels (number, subject, credit, debit, balance) from January and paste them in the same columns for February.
  4. In cell G4, type January's closing balance and make it bold.

    In cell C5, type 107
    In cell D5, type Telephone
    In cell E5, type 53.75

    In cell C6, type 108
    In cell D6, type Electric
    In cell E6, type 27.52

    In cell C7, type 109
    In cell D7, type Gas
    In cell E7, type 23.95

    In cell C8, type 110
    In cell D8, type Cable
    In cell E8, type 87.36

    In cell C9, type 111
    In cell D9, type Insurance
    In cell E9, type 135.91

    In cell C10, type 112
    In cell D10, type Rent
    In cell E10, type 650.00

  5. Use the same formula from January's worksheet, =G4-E5+F5, and fill it in your February balance column .
  6. Format February's worksheet so that it looks neat and easy to understand.
  7. Save the file as YourName_Excel_assignment2.
  8. Submit the file to your instructor, by following this steps    Open your E-Mail AddressCompose page attach your answer in your composed message and send it to your instructor at newday.com@gmail.com  good luck.
